Important Notice for All Shortlisted Candidates

Participation in the WRU × JUC Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme is exclusively available to WRU Members. All shortlisted candidates must hold an active WRU membership. Membership is free of charge — register at members.wrunion.org. Co-Supervisors will be the primary point of contact for research guidance henceforth. Candidates are requested to connect with their assigned Co-Supervisor at the earliest. Round 2 shortlisted candidates will be announced by June 2026.

Supervision Structure
Principal Supervisor
Appointed from Jesselton University College, Malaysia. Responsible for academic oversight, institutional affiliation validation, and final thesis review. Works in coordination with WRU and the Co-Supervisor throughout the fellowship.
Co-Supervisor (International)
An international domain expert appointed by WRU based on research area alignment. Serves as the primary point of contact for the fellow on all research matters. Conducts regular meetings, provides publication guidance, and submits progress reports to WRU at mid-point and completion.

What Fellows Must Submit

The following deliverables must be completed within the 12-month fellowship period for the fellowship to be formally recognised by Jesselton University College.

Research Thesis / Report

A written thesis or research report of approximately 10,000 words covering the approved research proposal, methodology, findings, and conclusions. To be submitted to and reviewed by both the Principal Supervisor and Co-Supervisor before JUC Senate evaluation.

Two Scopus-Indexed Publications

A minimum of two publications accepted or published in Scopus-indexed journals. At least one of the two publications must be indexed within Quartile 2 or Quartile 3 (Q2/Q3) categories. Both papers must carry Jesselton University College, Malaysia as the first affiliation.

Approved Research Scope

All research must be conducted within the scope of the accepted research title as stated in the appointment letter. Any significant deviation or change in research direction must be communicated to the Co-Supervisor and approved by WRU before proceeding.

Regular Progress Updates

Fellows are expected to maintain regular contact with their Co-Supervisor (minimum monthly meetings). A mid-point progress report is due by December 2026, and a final completion report is due by May 2027.

Active WRU Membership

Fellows must maintain an active WRU membership throughout the fellowship duration. Membership is free and can be renewed annually at members.wrunion.org. Fellowship appointment cannot be processed without a valid WRU membership.
