What the publisher does
WRU runs the journal's hosting, technical platform, finances, fee collection and dealings with registries and indexing services. It does not take part in decisions on individual manuscripts. Those decisions belong to the Editor-in-Chief and the editorial board, as set out on the Editorial Independence page.
WRU publishes several open-access journals. The same rules on editorial independence, peer review, ethics and licensing apply to all of them.
Funding
The journal is funded by article processing charges and by WRU. The charge is USD 1,000 per accepted article, with reductions described on the Article Processing Charges page. The journal carries no advertising, no sponsored content and no subscriptions.
Memberships and standards
WRU is not currently a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Open Access Scholarly Publishing Association (OASPA) or similar publisher bodies. The journal follows the COPE Core Practices, the CRediT contributor taxonomy and the FAIR data principles in its own policies, and WRU intends to apply for COPE and OASPA membership once it meets their eligibility criteria.
Licensing
Articles are open access from publication under the CC BY-NC 4.0 licence, and authors keep the copyright. See Open Access Policy and Copyright and Licensing.
Platform and preservation
The journal runs on Open Journal Systems (OJS), open-source software from the Public Knowledge Project. WRU handles hosting, security, backups and upgrades. Long-term preservation is described on the Archiving and Preservation page.
