Data Availability
Readers of JASAT should be able to check and reuse the data and code behind a published result, unless there is a stated, legitimate reason why they cannot. The policy follows the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).
Data Availability Statement
Every manuscript must include a Data Availability Statement between the Conclusions and the References. It says what data support the findings and how to get them.
Options
Choose whichever applies. More than one may apply.
- Public repository. Data deposited in Zenodo, Figshare, Dryad, IEEE DataPort or a subject repository, with a persistent identifier. Give the repository, identifier and access terms.
- In the article. All data are in the article or its supplementary files.
- On reasonable request. Data available from the corresponding author, with any conditions stated (for example a data-sharing agreement or ethics approval).
- Restricted. Data limited by commercial confidentiality, data protection or ethics terms. State the restriction and how access might be obtained.
- No new data. The study used only published data, which must be cited.
Code
- Cite all third-party software, with version numbers, in the Methods.
- Deposit any custom code needed to reproduce the results in a public repository (GitHub, GitLab or Zenodo) with a persistent identifier.
- State the licence. MIT, Apache 2.0, GPL or BSD are suitable for code, and CC BY for data.
Models and other materials
Describe trained models, datasets and test environments in enough detail for replication, and say whether they are available on request.
Reproducibility
We encourage a Reproducibility section giving the computing environment (operating system, library versions, hardware), random seeds and the steps needed to reproduce the results. For machine learning models, simulations and experiments that depend on specific equipment settings this is close to essential.
Example statements
Public repository: "The dataset analysed in this study is available in Zenodo at https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.EXAMPLE under a CC BY 4.0 licence. The analysis code is available at https://github.com/EXAMPLE under an MIT licence."
On request: "The data supporting the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author on reasonable request. The data were used under licence and are not publicly available."
No new data: "No new data were created or analysed in this study. All data referred to are publicly available from the cited sources."
