Article Processing Charges

The Journal of Healthcare Analytics and Informatics is a fully open-access journal. The Journal levies no article processing charges and no submission, publication, or handling fees on manuscripts submitted on or before 31 December 2029. Submission, peer review, editorial handling, and publication are free of charge to all authors during this period. There is no fee at any stage of the process.

Current fee position

For all manuscripts submitted on or before 31 December 2029:

  • There is no article processing charge (APC).
  • There is no submission fee.
  • There is no publication fee.
  • Publication is free for authors regardless of country, institution, or funding status.

This applies to all article types: Original Research Articles, Systematic or Methodological Reviews, Short Communications, and Editorials. The fee position is determined by the date of original submission, not the date of acceptance or publication. A manuscript submitted on or before 31 December 2029 remains free even if it is accepted or published after that date.

What is not charged

The Journal does not charge for any of the following:

  • Submission fees
  • Article-handling or peer-review-administration fees
  • Page charges or word-count surcharges
  • Color figure charges
  • Charges for supplementary material
  • Post-publication correction fees, where the correction is required to maintain the scholarly record

Open access and licensing

All articles are published open access immediately on publication, under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License. Authors retain copyright of their work. There is no charge to authors or readers for open-access publication. Full terms are on the Copyright and Licensing page.

Editorial independence and fees

Because the Journal levies no fees, no aspect of the editorial process can be influenced by an author's ability to pay. The decision to accept, revise, or reject a manuscript is made on the basis of scholarly merit alone, as described on the Editorial Independence page.

Future review of the fee position

The Journal commits to publication free of charge for all manuscripts submitted on or before 31 December 2029. Any charge applicable to manuscripts submitted from 1 January 2030 onwards will be published on this page in advance. Any such charge will be announced at least six months before it takes effect, will not apply to manuscripts already submitted at the date of announcement, and will be accompanied by a waiver scheme for authors from lower-income economies and for authors facing genuine financial hardship. The Journal is committed to a stable, transparent, and equitable fee position.
