Aims and Scope
Aims
The Journal of Business Strategy and Management Review (JBSMR) publishes research on how organisations form strategy, lead people and sustain performance, and on the data and evidence behind those decisions. It takes original research, systematic and methodological reviews, and short communications.
Papers are judged on originality, sound method, transparent data and a clear contribution to theory or practice. Work that draws on strategy, organisation theory, economics and the behavioural sciences together is welcome, as is careful work within a single field.
Scope
The scope covers three subject areas. The lists below give examples and are not exhaustive; a paper outside them but inside one of the three areas will be considered.

Papers usually declined at the desk
Every submission is checked for fit, method and originality before it goes to reviewers. The following are normally declined at that stage:
- Descriptive company profiles or consultancy reports without a research question
- Surveys with no evidence of measurement validity or no attention to common method bias
- Causal claims drawn from cross-sectional data without an identification strategy
- Routine replications in a new country with no theoretical or practical contribution
- Literature summaries that offer no methodological synthesis
If you are unsure whether a paper fits, send a short pre-submission enquiry through the Contact page.
